Congrats are in order! The CARIUMA skateboarding team has been celebrating since Gustavo Ribeiro, a 21-year old Portuguese skateboarder, earned his very first SLS super crown world championship title. The competition wrapped up on Sunday, November 6th, in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
Gustavo is a professional skateboarder representing CARIUMA as a part of our international professional skateboarding squad alongside skateboarders such as legend Mike Vallely, Kelvin Hoefler, Le’andre Sanders, Aori Nishimura, and many more. One of the best Portuguese skateboarders, he has already earned many international and local titles, and has built a loyal fanbase all over the world.
This year, he finally added the SLS World Championship to his repertoire. What helped the young skateboarder get to the top of Street League Skateboarding? His undeniable talent, passion for skating, and, why not, we’ll say it, CARIUMA.
After setting a plus-9.0 score on his best line, Gustavo finished first with a final score of 27.9. His 9.3-point best run and 9.3-point best trick put him ahead of the United States’s Braden Hoban and Chris Joslin, who hustled for position during the trick portion of the final.
“Ever since I was little, I dreamed of competing in an event like this. At 21, I managed to arrive and be the world champion,” Ribeiro said. “I never thought it would be this fast, but it goes to show that nothing is impossible.”
