Organic Cotton
Canvas OCA sneakers are made using organic cotton canvas that has been grown without the use of pesticides and other chemicals that negatively affect local biodiversity. We reject the idea that conventional cotton is simply “good enough.” Our organic cotton is grown with soil-safe practices, without harmful chemicals, and less water and energy than conventional cotton.
Natural Rubber
Our rubber has been collected via ethical rubber ‘tapping’ methods. This material is our high-quality alternative to unsustainable, synthetically based outsoles. Ethical rubber tapping involves extracting a sap from the bark of the rubber trees without causing any superficial or internal damage. This method of rubber collection can be used to harvest rubber without clearing land for plantations, and ensures that no trees are harmed in the making of our sneakers.
LWG-Certified Leather and Suede
We prioritize consciously sourced materials. The materials used in our leather and suede OCA styles are never sourced from areas deforested for cattle farming. We source exclusively from Leather Working Group-certified tanneries. Our premium leather and suede hides are treated with 100% recycled water during the tanning process. In addition, the majority of the electricity used in the process is generated by renewable sources, including solar power, hydropower, and geothermal energy.

We craft our laces, labels, and threads entirely from recycled plastic bottles (also known as recycled PET). Our sneakers are also shipped in single-box, recycled and recyclable packaging.
