‘It’s about the simplicity of details.’ This is the message Gallerist Liliam Albuquerque shares with her two daughters, Valentina and Helena. Born in Minas Gerais, with her heart set up in Rio, Liliam roams this beautiful city without losing her style, typical of a bon vivant like herself. Liliam’s unconventional routine allows her to live freely, exploring Rio’s iconic locations, such as the Pedra da Gávea, on days she feels like it.
A resident of Joatinga, Rio, she often goes to the beach to seek inspiration by admiring the cultural diversity and mixture of people you get there; people from Rio, France, England and other parts of the world.
Liliam and her friend, Fabiana Brandão, started AB, a place where artist and galleries can meet and interact. Instead of setting up in the south side of the city, which has a strong presence of arts and diversity, they brought AB to Barra da Tijuca, where they see an opportunity to grow the scene there.
Liliam connects the ultra-urban with the bohemian artsy, so much so that the gallerist defines her style as full of contrasts, just like the city of Rio de Janeiro.
