Certifications That Show Your Sneakers Are Sustainably Sourced

We’re here to inform you of the certifications and signs you should be looking for, because it matters -- to our planet, to us, and to you.

Global Recycled Standard certification

The Global Recycled Standard certification ensures that a product is made at least partly of recycled materials. It is dedicated to fair labor as well as accurate content claims to reduce the environmental and chemical impact of the production of clothes and other goods. The laces on our shoes are made from recycled plastic bottles and are certified by the Global Recycled Standard.

Braskem I’m green^TM EVA

The Braskem I’m green^TM logo indicates the use of I'm green^TM EVA in our IBI outsoles, a plastic made out of sugarcane, a renewable raw material. Instead of traditional EVA made from fossil fuels, this eco-friendly green version reduces greenhouse gas emissions. I'm green^TM EVA is created sustainably with conscious practices.

FSC certified trademark

The FSC certified trademark is a certification by the Forest Stewardship Council that signifies that products have been made responsibly using environmentally friendly practices and materials that promote forest conservation. All of the bamboo used in our 100% carbon neutral IBI sneakers is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and OEKO-TEX.

OEKO-TEX® label

The OEKO-TEX® label is awarded to companies whose yarns and textiles have met rigorous requirements of testing to meet maximum consumer safety. They check all parts of a product for chemicals and other substances to ensure it is harmless to human health.

Leather Working Group certified

To be Leather Working Group certified means that your leather and suede supply chain has been fully vetted for sustainability. Responsibly sourced from Argentina, Thailand, Brazil, USA and China, the leather on our shoes like the OCA High Black Premium Leather Sneaker is an LWG certified gold rating supplier. This means it has been approved by the highest standard of compliance in LWG’s auditing program. It also means that they maintain traceability of the leather that’s used. The classic high-tops are made from premium pebbled leather, crafted using alternative energy sources like solar panels as well as recycled water.
